PCAR 2019, Pt.1

You know how some people insist that telling people your plans makes you more likely to follow through with them? I think I've tried being transparent about that in my previous posts, alluding to or flat out stating some hopes or goals for my workbench, but just in case I've been to opaque, here's a small list I'm working off. It outlines Painting, Crafting, Acquisitions, and maybe even releases (PCAR, get it?)

Who's to say (aside from the putz writing this?)

Painting

  1. I've got a Pug ARMY to finish. We're talking about 25 infantry and 3 vehicles unless I wind up making MORE bootleg bullcrud while inspired by the good boys.
  2. There's a pile of dungeon terrain I've been kicking around, that I did while watching this Runehammer video. They're all sealed and primed, but could use some drybrushing and maybe some gravel. Also, much to my delight, it fills out a 3x3 table pretty well, perfect for Frostgrave's Enter the Breeding Pits, especially after I add some more line-of sight blocking walls and stalagmites.
  3. Gnome Warband. I've got four more units to paint, and maybe one to scratch build depending on how I'm feeling. The full force for Dragon Rampant is going to be some 3 units of cc footsoldiers, and 2 units of mounted fox riders with crossbows. In the event that I'm clever enough, I might manage to add some heroes to the army so I can indulge in magic, nifty leadership bonuses, or perhaps just a means of indulging some oldhammer rank-and-file goodness someday.

Crafting

  1. Some fresh terrain would be ideal, and I've started collecting supplies to make buildings, both of fantasy and sci fi dispositions. 3-5 more multi-story buildings in each department would be rad, and especially helpful for adding immersive elements to Killteam and Mordheim campaigns my brother and I are hoping to enjoy in the coming year.
  2. Oh, and on that note, I really ought to pick some keen Mordheim warbands to build. Honestly, dunno if we're actually using the Mordheim rules, or if we're gonna mod ASOBH, Wasteman, or invent a system of our own, but with some good probability, my dark fantasy warband might be some people travelling to dispose of a mysterious coffin, or a handful of lawmen.
  3. I really want to sculpt some more monopose minis to fill out bulky units of armies. Not armies that I have or need to start, mind you, but something tasteful, and good for practicing mold making if I work up the grit to try casting my own sculpts.

Acquisitions

  1. I kinda feel obliged to celebrate the new Genestealer cult codex, and their motorcycle pals. 40K is most of what gets played anywhere I frequent, and my brother likes it too, so bumping my army up to a solid 1000 points seems like the responsible thing to do. I really dig the space suit/moon rover vibes of the Atalan Jackals (and tbh, it'll be a shame not to convert these bikes for other games.) I might look into getting some of my figures from blind beggar miniatures, to steer my cult towards a more rogue trader look, but also because they're just terribly charming.
  2. Recently, I read about Joseph McCullough's Rangers of Deep Shadow, which supports solo and co-op play for folks who like the Frostgrave engine, but also about a literal Frostgrave expansion coming out later this year, which will focus on solo play <3 Those that have delved this blog deeper than most will know this particular site began as my solo Frostgrave fan content page, under different names, and phases of the moon, but that all petered out maybe a season into the endeavor. Maybe this book will be that spark I need to further the adventures of Tomblin, my favorite Chronomancer Romantic.
  3. On the subject of rules, I still have yet to try VUK or Urban Manhunt, and a certain someone got me Tabletop Simulator for yucks, so it might behoove me to invest in a rules system we might play on there. Already, we've planned for Mini Gangs and MDRG, so we've got some systems to burn through, butttttt I like having the excuse to try low stakes new things

Releases
  1. I recently did some art for the Podcast Paint all the Minis (PATM for short,) and after that I began illustrating for another project involving, swords, sorcery, and a lovely chunk of body horror. With any luck, some of that will leak and I'll be able to share more.
  2. The latest expansion of Jason Fairclough's Wasteman game, titled Liberty Land, will include a tidy little four page comic collaboration between Jason and myself. Additionally, His new spinoff game Goregasm Arena, will likewise contain illustrations from yours truly.
  3. As is tradition, during the months that my drawing wanes, I tend to tinker with rules and mechanics, and pop out a few games in my notebooks. Will this be the year an rpg or skirmish game makes it out into the world? Beats me, but just in case, stay tuned for more.
