Between OWAC VIII and the state of the world, I haven't had much time to blog, but I've had a lot of false starts where I've tried to enjoy my blog-garden the way I want to. Although it is now hot girl summer, there was a very warm spring before it, where I took on a project to help embrace the indie wargaming scene in my shop.
Although Trench Crusade offers little for retailers,l directly, the community buzz was undeniable, and so I slapped together four boards (two 3x3 and two 4x4.)
Trench Crusade. Its fun and heretical!
The boards and the terrain that goes with them took about 20 hours to make. They're not polished in the same way that my home terrain is, but they serve their mechanical purpose with enough visual adherence to the themes and for me, that's good enough.

So that we could hit the ground running, I also made us four small (750 crown) warbands.

From the start of this undertaking, I had to grapple with the practicality of putting all of this together with limited time and resources. Outside of building the models and the boards correctly, the cosmetics of color are all done to make the minis distinguishable by faction and contrasting with the boards. When I have time, I'll probably bring armies home to polish them up to a tabletop standard, but since these took up my professional and personal time, I had to find a satisfactory stopping point so I didn't fall behind on my other hopes/dreams/obligations.
(That said, I kinda like how "little green army man" some of these guys feel. Ah well.)
Anyhow, that's been my whirlwind foray into TRENCH CRUSADE. It's a clever little game, with a lot of bite to it, and the couple of games I've gotten in so far have been a blast. Have you given it a go?
