Paint Table November

Oi! It's November! Things got more scary, and also less scary? We're enjoying experiencing a lot of that over in the United States, and while we're no longer looking forward to four more years of the shouty orange man, what is the future? Instead of answering that, let's dive right into the minis painted this month, starting with this lunk from Northumbrian Tin Soldier <3

He's adorable and I love him.

Wasteman! I've officially painted all the Wasteman minis I own (at least once.) Up top we've got Pink Eye and Brian, and on the bottom we have the Plight Rider, and a specialty Wyrdman from the Libertyland Campaign. Since three of these minis were mostly fur, I really leaned on my Game Color Inks, and that was my last good decision of 2020.

Da Big Bozz - since last month was Orktober, I was riding the wave of loving everything to do with Gorkamorka. Because of this (and other reasons) Nicolai printed me off some of Jaycee Fairclough's Red Nebular minis, including this honking huge Ork Chonker. Coming off the heels of painting up Gammon Skull-Snacker, I had a sense of deja vu while blocking in the reds and the bolts and the itty bitty shoes. Maybe that says more about me as a painter than Jaycee as a sculptor, but either way it was fun rounding off my Evil Suns with this mighty mound of resin.

A while back I posted about my little army of Putrid Blightkings for the campaign Tales from the Ashen Stair, and since that time I've painted none figures and played one sorry doubles tournament with them. After all this time, I decided to get back on the horse and cobbled together some not-nurglings for the army with the widest assortment of models I could muster. We've got old old Grenadier, Gnoblars, Splintered Light Minis, GW Hobbits, Harwood Hobbies, Skeleton Head Toys, and Reaper Bones representing out here. I took some notes from my horsehead fella of last months haul and spent my birthday working this dreary crew into a limited palette nightmare.

Death's Head Goomba - When I was 15 or so, I discovered air dry clay as a medium I could use for my hobbying. With my limited experience, this was the result of my passions for Super Mario, Chess, and all things Warhammer, and is one of the surviving pieces from that era that I uncovered in a recent shifting of tupperwares and bits bins. I had an odd little time putting some paint on it, inspired in part by Allison Schulnik and Nick Borelli, or maybe just my secret love affair with Titanium Nickel Yellow. I think I'm pleased with how this friend turned out, but I can't for the life of me place where I'd play it. Ho Hum! To the shelf it goes!

I found this one through my Instagram feed, as the first set of miniatures from Lazaraie (his shop is over here,) and was immediately enamored with how cursed and Baroque all of them looked. Deciding to go with the biggest of the bunch, the Bellringer seemed almost the right fit for a giant to accompany my Blightkings into battle, except that it was apparently an inch shorter than standard GW fare. So I made the legs a squidge longer and wound up with a dizzyingly disproportionate fella somewhat reminiscent of Roberto Cuevas Guerrero's Aleguzzler Gargants hiding in plain sight. Since last month I traded in a bunch of Magic cards for a big old Mega Gargant, I might cobble together 2 more smaller giants to ease into a 1000 point AOS list. Maybe. No promises.

BTW: Did you know November is actually Gnome-Vember? Yeah bro, get on the level! Since the internet has agreed that we are again in the midst of a theme month, I wanted to adhere so as to appease my pile of unpainted gnomes. In my house I have the models for fantasy gnome armies in three flavors; undead, not undead, and chaos. Having finished my skellignomes earlier in the year, I figured it was time to buckle down and start on their living counterparts. These are fox riders from Old School Miniatures popped on 25mm rounds. Their captain rides a hengehog, and carries a legendary sword. At some point I might add shields to them, but since I couldn't decide on how to decorate them, I'll leave that touch-up for another time.

Month's Total +17

259/52 --> 276/52

We're down to the knuckle now folks! 24 models left before we hit 300! What will they be? How do you do? Its all that and a bag of ice! Tune in next time for a helluva landing in this Boneshaker of a year.
